Posting video just got easier
VideoEgg has announced a new service that allows virtually any Web server to embed its online video content. And best of all, it's free.
The VideoEgg Integration Kit includes everything necessary to embed the VideoEgg Player and Publisher into a Web site. It's available for download now.
VideoEgg debuted last fall and initially struck deals with blogging software publishers, such as Six Apart, to integrate video with blogging apps such as TypePad.
Consumer interest in adding video to all sorts of Web sites led VideoEgg to develop its Integration Kit, says Kevin Sladek, one of the company's founders. He was interviewed by vloglab prior to today's official announcement.
"We were surprised at the diversity and quantity of folks reaching out to us," Sladek says. For example, a Texas high school wanted to post video in its online year book. The VideoEgg Integration Kit makes it possible, he says.

More than 130 organizations contacted VideoEgg, asking if the easy-to-use service could be expanded beyond VideoEgg's initial concept of working with major partners like Six Apart and eBay.
Video uploaded with VideoEgg Publisher will be hosted on a geographically distributed network of 18,000 servers powered by Akamai Technologies, according to the company's announcement. Links in a Web page will call the file to the Flash-based VideoEgg player.
The length of free videos has been extended to five minutes, Sladek says. VideoEgg plans to add advertising to the free videos, although details are still being worked out. Paid hosting is an option for those who don't want ads to be coupled with their video content.
"We want to find the right solution that gives advertisers what they need and viewers the right experience," Sladek says.
In a separate announcement March 21, VideoEgg said that it has acquired Popcast, "software (Windows only) that allows you to view and broadcast Internet TV channels."
